Birthdays!
I remember when I was younger just waiting for my birthday to get here! It seemed like it took forever!!!! Kind of like Christmas and Summer vacation, FOREVER...........
All the big "birthdays", 13 years old, nothing like the movie "13 going on 30", could of been though, different decade. 16 was good, went to Disneyland, that was a lot of fun. I was a sophmore and my sophmore class trip was Disneyland. We lived in Phoenix, so the drive to Anaheim was like driving from Rockport to Dallas. We had a class trip because we were going to be the first graduating class from our new high school, so it was like being a senior every year!
Turning 18 was great, "Now I'm an Adult"!!! Yea, right! 19 was great, drinking age, legal, although I wasn't a drinker, not really, but I had a lot of underage friends that were and would beg me to buy beer, pre-Christian days by the way, everyone will be happy to know that I did not buy for those juveniles.................
Twenty-One was good, had my first baby 2 months later, sweet, Twenty-Four, second baby, absolutely wonderful, Twenty-Eighth birthday, third baby, a girl, a new friend, beautiful.........
Thirty, NO BIG DEAL people. I was very worried about that one, listening to everyone who had traumatic "horror" stories about 30. I remembered my mom turning 30 and crying all day in her bedroom behind closed doors. I was really afraid I'd be 30 with issues, but I wasn't and I'm sure Mando was thrilled that I made it through the day sound and sain! Ha!
Thirty-One was precious. Not because I had a birthday in April, but because I had a new birth on August 9th. I accepted Christ as my precious Lord and Savior and my life has never been the same. I can honestly and completely say the "new has come the old is gone". Sweet...............
Now, 39 was not so great, not only was my first born sweet baby boy graduating from high school, but all I kept thinking was next year I will be 40!!! FORTY!!!! FOUR-OH!!!! Where did that number come from. I am not one to get hung up in the "I must do everything I possibly can to stay young forever"! Not me, no way, age has not ever really been an issue, but 40 was becoming an issue. Just saying it sounded like a foreign language. Gosh, I was really getting "freaky" about it.
Well on April 9th I was going to a friends house for a quite family dinner and much to my surprise there were about 30 of my closest friends there. WOW! I had never been so surprised in my entire life. It was wonderful and it just made me realize how blessed I am to have so many people who love me and put up with me! ; )

Today I am 42..................................My first born "sweet baby boy" went to lunch with me yesterday and reminded me that in 8 years I will be 50!!!! NUTS!!!! So, I am not going to make a big deal about my birthdays anymore. Not that I really ever did. I enjoy others birthdays and celebrating my childrens birthdays are enough excitement for me. Considering I can remember like yesterday when I was turning their ages................so sad how fast time goes by...................Reminds me to really enjoy the day we are given.
Oh, the one thing I do do to avoid the "old" thing, is I go to this wonderful person to have my hair cut and "shaded" for lack of a better word. I gave into peer pressure at the age of 39 and decided to not go "natural". Glad I listened, although one day I will have to go "natural" cause my eyes will get so bad that it won't matter what color my hair is and I won't be able to hear anyone say anything about my "highlights" so it will not matter!

Hey Denise....I got to read your blog. I loved reading about it, it seems like i'm actually talking to you when I'm reading it...i can imagine all your facial expressions. Anyhow..you sound happy and letting others share in your thoughts will probably make them smile as well..as it has for me. Okay, Okay. Enough of the gushy, friendly, although honest hearted stuff. Have a great day as I'm sure you have, and I'll talk to you later. There's no way you can avoid it! Ha Ha He He!!!! :)
Age is nothing, it's like Jesus (or maybe Paul) said in reference to Death, "Where is thy victory? Where is they sting?"
Age, like death, does not sting and does not have victory over us. Amen? Let us pray.
Pray for me because I am so MAD that I am not one of your 30 closest friends invited to your surprise party. But alas you are not the one to blame....but I know who is....DANG!
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you...................I thought you'd prefer I type you the Birthday song rather than sing it. HA
